   Gerald Adriaan van Rossem (October 2, 1866 Rotterdam - July 24, 1956 Naarden) [From A Rose Odyssey , by J. H. Nicolas, 1937, p.134:] G. A. van Rossem...went to England to complete his professional training, then established a firm at Naarden, near Amstersdam...One of the two specialties of the firm is trained fruit trees (espaliers, etc.)...But Van Rossem...had the love of the rose in his heart. He became a large rose-growing operator. The excellence of his plants won him the appointment as a furnisher to the royal family...As a relaxantion Van Rossen started hybridizing...   |
